Curfew in Longleng Town relaxed, assembly of 5 or more prohibited

Longleng Town: The prohibition will begin from noon of 3 March 2023 till noon of 6 March 2023

District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS on Friday relaxed the curfew that was imposed on 28 February following post poll violence in the town.

As per the new order, though the curfew has been lifted, “any movement and unlawful assembly of more than 5 persons is prohibited from 12 noon of 3rd March, 2023 till 12 noon of 6th March, 2023”.

Any person(s) found violating the order will be punished under section 188 Indian Penal Code with Imprisonment up to 6 months or with fine or both, the order said.

In view of the volatile situation in the town, the DC had earlier on Wednesday banned any kind of celebrations such as gatherings, fireworks, blowing of horns, rally of vehicles, etc, after the declaration of the election result on Thursday.
