The Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has reiterated its standing resolution, through a press release, imposing a total ban on hunting, fishing, and all other activities that endanger or deplete the flora and fauna within Chümoukedima Village jurisdiction.
In this regard, the CVYS issued the following cautions and directives for strict public compliance:
- Ban on hunting and possession of firearms:
Any individual found violating the resolution through hunting or related activities shall be
Sternly dealt with. A penalty of not less than ₹1,00,000 will be imposed on offenders, depending on the severity of the act. Carrying firearms within the village jurisdiction is strictly prohibited. Licensed firearms used for hunting will be confiscated and recommended for license cancellation. Unlicensed firearms, air rifles, or any other hunting implements will be confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
- Prohibition on starting wildfires:
A stern warning is issued against individuals or groups responsible for starting wildfires and causing environmental damage. Offenders will face the severest penalties, including a punitive fine of ₹5, 00,000 or more, depending on the extent of destruction. Further, legal action will be pursued as per the provisions of law.

- Regulation of visitors at Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village:
The Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village (Highway Bypass) is out of bounds for trekkers, picnic groups, and sightseers after 6:00 PM. This restriction follows incidents of vandalism, defacement of public property and monuments by miscreants, and unfortunate accidents leading to loss of lives. Such irresponsible acts will not be tolerated, and any person caught in the act will face strict disciplinary action.
Visitors are urged to maintain cleanliness and dispose of waste responsibly, particularly plastic waste, in designated waste bins or pits. The CVYS appeals to all residents and visitors to respect cautionary signboards within the village, including speed limits and the prohibition of underage driving.
- Restriction on loitering after 8:00 PM:
In light of increasing incidents of robbery, drug peddling, and public nuisance, loitering within the village jurisdiction without valid reason after 8:00 PM is strictly prohibited. Youth volunteers on duty have been instructed to stop and verify the identity and purpose of individuals found within the area during restricted hours. Commuters and visitors are, therefore, requested to cooperate with CVYS volunteers in maintaining law, order, and public safety.
The Chümoukedima Village Youth Society appealed to all denizens and visitors to extend their cooperation in preserving the natural environment, upholding community discipline, and ensuring the safety and dignity of Chümoukedima Village.
