CWS calls off indefinite agitation

The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (Chang Students’ Conference) has called off its indefinite agitation against the Sao Chang College issue in Tuensang, following the written assurance given by the Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, to fulfill their demands.

A press statement Issued by the CWS stated that the written assurance provided by the Minister included the up-gradation of Science Laboratory to be taken up within the financial year 2023; introduction of Major Subject in Science Stream will be introduced by the academic year 2024. The deployment of a Principal at Sao Chang College was already issued on October 20. The issues regarding the shortage of College Buses will be solved by the end of November 2023. Further, the statement read, “The shortage of Teaching Faculties in the Departments of Political Science, English & Departments under Science Streams shall be posted as and when the contracts Assistant Professors are absorbed.”

Hence, assured by the Department and its Concerned Minister, the Conference officially called off its indefinite agitation w.e.f. October 21.

In its statement, the Conference also expressed gratitude to the students of Sao Chang College, teaching and non-teaching Faculties of Sao Chang College, Minister Temjen Imna Along, and all the concerned authorities headed by Commissioner and Secretary, Higher and Technical Education GON, P. Bashangmongba Chang, Minister Housing and Mechanical Engineering GoN, Imtichoba Chang, MLA and Chairman DPDB Tuensang, Y. Lima Onen Chang, MLA, District Administration Tuensang, SP Tuensang, and all the stakeholders of Tuensang Town.
