Mention may be made that the school has an enrolment of more than a thousand students from classes A to 12. The school has been consistent in maintaining the best results among not only government but also private schools in Nagaland.
The Deputy Commissioner remarked that it was a matter of shame and embarrassment to learn that the best performing government school of the district and perhaps of Nagaland, did not have a science lab for the students. He recalled the collective efforts of the Principal, Chümoukedima Village Council Chairman, Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation and others which together had strived for the betterment of school and had demanded the science stream, but without a science lab the students of science stream were suffering.
He mentioned that the Principal had promised the parents of the students of science stream that she would arrange for the science lab for their children and stated that the society should come forward to support the promises of a good teacher, and that was what he has done by setting up a science lab.
“The future of Nagaland is in the hands of the students who stand here today and one must not underestimate what an individual can do to change the society”, he said. He implored the students to have big dreams and encouraged them to work hard to achieve it, which is the key for success and progress of the society. He said that if these thousand plus students resolve to work hard then there will be a thousand leaders, doctors, engineers, IAS Officers.
“We wait for society and community to do something but if we want to transform the society then we need to realise our importance and work hard to realise our dreams, and that’s the only way to transform the society”, he added.
Further, Shivam urged the students to stop wasting their time and work towards their big dreams. He advised them to take command of life and work hard with all their hearts. The DC also requested the students to take time out every day of 10-15 minutes to think slowly and gradually you will reach where you want to be, he said.
