DC & District Election Officer Phek issues directive on license arms

In view of the ensuing General Election to the Lok Sabha 2024 and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India regarding preventive action to ensure conduct of peaceful, free and fair poll during the election and for preserving public and safety, District Magistrate, Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam, NCS, has directed all licence arm holder in Phek district to deposit their arms and ammunitions to the nearest Police Station on or before March 30.

The order mentioned that the arms and ammunitions deposited shall be kept in police custody till one week after the declaration of election result. It also stated that the officer in charge of respective police stations shall issue receipt to depositor and maintain proper records and safe custody of the arms.

Non-compliance with this order shall lead to cancellation of arms penal action as per relevant section of law, informed the order.
