DC Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS has issued an order prohibiting the encroachment of public spaces such as footpaths in Kohima District. The order stated that public spaces, particularly footpaths, are being obstructed by street vendors, hawkers, and other unauthorized structures, thereby affecting pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
It further noted that both permanent and temporary structures erected on public pathways pose a threat to road safety for pedestrians and vehicles and may potentially lead to road accidents or stampedes.

Therefore, in the interest of public safety and order, all unauthorized structures and activities encroaching upon public spaces such as footpaths in Kohima District are strictly prohibited with immediate effect. The District Administration has cautioned that necessary action shall be initiated against defaulters.
