The District Administration, Mokokchung, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW)and Watsü Mungdang, celebrated International Women’s Day at the Conference Hall, DC Office. The event was themed “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,”
Thsüvisie Phoji, NCS Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the value and sacrifices of women. He noted that women dominate various sectors, including education and public services, demonstrating their power and capabilities.
The theme speaker, C. Bendangonen Jamir, Mission Director of Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church, highlighted the need for women’s empowerment, stating that women are often trapped in a cycle of silence and domestic violence. He emphasized that empowerment is not a fight against men, but rather a means for women to uplift themselves and create a more equitable society.
Awards were presented to five women from different fields in recognition of their services. The awardees included L Bendangla Jamir, Dr. Sashila Aier, Dr. Temjenwala, Yatetienla (ASHA worker), and Chubasungla (Angwandi worker).
Er. Neithozo Thenuo, EAC, chaired the program, while an invocation was pronounced by Tiaakum, Associate Pastor of Youth Süngkomen Baptist Church. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Putuchiba Walling, Gender Specialist (DHEW).
