In view of the continued and increasing presence of wild elephants at several locations under Niuland District, Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Sara S Jamir has advised the general public to refrain from venturing in to the known corridors, forested areas and streams especially after daylight hours.

The DC also urge residents to avoid any form of confrontation and chase or use loud noises or fire crackers to drive away the elephants as such actions could trigger aggression and cause harm to both human lives and property.

Further, the general public have been asked to contact Hukhai, Deputy Ranger I/C Wildlife Crime Control Unit, Dimapur, Mobile No: 8787890194 for any emergency related to the presence of wild elephants in the district.
