Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, has issued a travel advisory for the safety of the general public pertaining to the road condition on National Highway 29 (NH-29) between existing KM 30,220 (near Kidima Road Chakhabama) and existing KM 53,474 (near Kikruma village), which falls under Kohima-Jessami Road (Package-II).
Due to continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days, this stretch of NH-29, specifically from Design KM 29,600 to KM 51.5, has experienced multiple landslides and rockfalls, the DC stated.
These hazardous conditions pose a risk to the lives of travelers and the general public and therefore, in the interest of public safety, Phek DC Ramnikant has ordered the immediate temporary restriction of all light and heavy vehicles on this section of NH-29.
Travelers have been advised to take an alternative route via Zuketsu-Kidima until further notice from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Phek.
