DC Tuensang launches Poshan Maah 2023, underscores role of Anganwadi workers in children’s nutrition

Tuensang: Month long Poshan Maah started on 1st September and will culminate on 30th September 2023

Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa launched the Poshan Maah 2023 at CBLT Conference Hall, Tuensang on Wednesday, a DIPR report stated.

Speaking on the occasion, Rutsa stated that Tuensang District is one of the first districts in the State to have a fully functional District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW). She also exhorted the Anganwadi workers to work with sincerity and dedication and also asked them to create an awareness for healthy home-cooked food and breastfeeding of the infant child. The Deputy Commissioner also added that Anganwadi workers have a big role to play in teaching the pre-primary kids in their Anganwadi Centres as lower section education is the backbone of learning. The Deputy Commissioner also took the Poshan Pledge.

During the function, T. Longlang Luckpan DPO (ICDS) Tuensang highlighted on Poshan Maah programme in his welcome speech. Short speeches were delivered by Nungsanglemba, President CKS and Dr. Imti, DPO RCH Tuensang. Poshan Abhiyaan theme song was presented by AWWs Tuensang Town. The program was chaired by Lakiumong CDPO (ICDS) Thonoknyu Project and vote of thanks was delivered by Antikundang CDPO (ICDS) Sangsangnyu Project.

The function was attended by officials from different Departments of Tuensang, SDO (C) Tuensang, Nodal Officers of DHEW Tuensang, Asha Workers and Civil society from Tuensang Town. The program was organised by the Department of Social Welfare Tuensang. The month-long Poshan Maah started on 1st September and will culminate on 30th September 2023.
