As part of the nationwide campaign “MGNREGA Bachao Sangram”, the District Congress Committee (DCC) Tuensang joined the call for immediate restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The campaign was held at the Congress Bhavan, Tuensang and was led by the DCC President, Secretary, and party members. They were joined by key leaders including PCC Member of 53 A/C Tuensang Sadar I, L Chuba Yim, General Secretary NPCC and Tuensang Incharge; PCC Member of 54 A/C Tuensang Sadar II, I N Mongba; and PCC Member of 51 A/C Noksen, P Moa.
Speaking to the gathering, the DCC President stressed that MGNREGA is a legal guarantee that ensures 100 days of paid employment for every rural household. He stated that with its removal, the rights to fair wages, work security, and accountability will be lost, affecting villages across the region.
L Chuba and P Moa added that removing MGNREGA would limit job opportunities, push implementation into the hands of a few contractors, and strip rural communities of livelihood support. They warned that this could leave villagers dependent on central authorities with no local control.

The DCC Secretary reminded that the Indian National Congress, through its nationwide movement, is demanding the full restoration of MGNREGA and the guarantee of a minimum daily wage of ₹400, ensuring dignity, fairness, and a secure future for rural workers.
Through this campaign, Tuensang DCC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights of the rural workforce and called on the government to reinstate MGNREGA without delay.
