DCPU Mokokchung observes Child Rights Week

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) , Mokokchung, Department of Social welfare commemorated the Child Rights week from November 14 to 20 by organising a series of events , with communities, school students and stake holders.

The programme was held under the theme, “Children of Today. Leaders of tomorrow”. Commemorating the Children’s day, District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women( DHEW) celebrated children’s Day with the Children of Care & Support Children Home, Tsümarshiong, Chungtia village.

Awareness campaign on Child rights and POCSO Act were also held by District Child Protection Unit, Child helpline Mission Vatsalya, in different schools , targeting the vulnerable children. Poster campaigns on Child and Adolescent Labour. (Prohibition and Regulations Act .1986) was also held at different public places, police station, Child Care Institutions and offices.

The Week long Child Rights week culminated with a consultative meeting of all the stake  holders headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsüvisie Phoji NCS. In the meeting, all the stakeholders attended and presented their duties, functions and services they provide. Besides, they also shared on the activities conducted for the children.

Child Right week is a week-long celebration which serves as a call to action for schools, communities, and institutions to engage with extending care and support  to children in need and in distress and for the protection of their rights.
