With the onset of the monsoon, one of the primary concerns highlighted was the condition of roads. The members discussed the maintenance of emergency routes, especially in the event of landslides, and stressed the need for identifying and clearing clogged drainage systems in Kohima’s urban areas to prevent waterlogging.
The committee also deliberated on regulating the load capacity of trucks transporting goods, and also the vulnerability of villages connected by a single access road. It was decided that a mass social work initiative will be undertaken soon, involving Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) councillors overseeing their respective colonies, while various district departments will take responsibility for the upkeep of main roads.
