The quarterly meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kohima, was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Kohima on November 13.
The meeting focused on agenda including the review of post-monsoon disaster impacts, updation of the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP), scrutiny of SDRF relief applications, and the updation of the India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN) database.
Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kohima expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their dedicated efforts during the unprecedented monsoon events that affected various parts of the district. He highlighted issues such as the landslides and damages along Jotsoma Bypass and Zhadima–Niuland Road, as well as the disruption of the Kezoma pipeline, which was swiftly restored through the collaboration of concerned departments and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).
During the deliberations, members shared field experiences and challenges. It was noted that maintenance and repair work often faced complications due to jurisdictional overlaps among departments. The Traffic Police personnel raised the need for better logistical support, suggesting good-quality raincoats, gumboots, and a vanity van to facilitate rest and cooking during prolonged duty hours in adverse weather. From the Agriculture Department, issues related to crop damage caused by heavy rains and wild animals were discussed.

Departments were directed to update the database every three months in the prescribed format to ensure readiness during disaster situations.
