The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has shared on Friday that the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shamator has cleared a vital road in the district after it was completely blocked by landslides/mudslides and a portion of the road washed away by heavy rainfall.
NDSMA informed that due to the extreme weather conditions, four presiding officers were stuck between Chassir and Y. Anner villages in Shamator district when they were returning to Sotokur village after performing election duty in the recently conducted Lok Sabha polls. Following heavy rainfall, landslide/mudslide had trapped the vehicle they were travelling in. Left with no options, they had to travel by foot from the incident site to reach the next village, the Authority stated.
DDMA was then called in to clear debris and make temporary repairing of the roads and after several days, the road was finally opened till Muleangkiur village before reaching Chassir village.
NSDMA informed that till date, DDMA Shamator in collaboration with PWD (NH) (R&B) has been working tirelessly to restore motorable roads in the district.
