The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Admi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal today for a bond of Rs 1 lakh.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on the 21st March 2024, in connection with money laundering case, becoming the first chief minister to be arrested while in office in the history of India. He is expected to walk out of Tihar Jail on Friday.
As soon as the judgement was passed, the party supporters in New Delhi broke out in celebrations.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who also recently got released on bail in connection to the same Delhi excise case, remarked, “Justice has prevailed in a case built on lies, deceit and fabricated facts.” He added that Kejriwal’s bail will strengthen people’s faith in the country’s judicial system.
He further said that this decision is a “strong slap on the lies of the BJP” and that there is a wave of happiness among every worker of the Aam Aadmi Party.
