Demanding justice for 22-year-old, condemnations continue

Following the murder of a 22 years old woman in Kohima on October 24/25, condemnations and tributes have poured in from various organisations.

Another candlelight vigil organised by the Jakhama Village Council will be held on October 31, 5 pm at PHQ junction Kohima.

Kohima District Football Association

The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) has expressed shock over the murder of the young and promising basketball player

“Such a tragedy is not only a loss to her family and friends but also to the entire sporting community of Kohima and Nagaland,” stated the Association extending condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family and loved ones.

The KDFA urged the law-enforcing agencies to expedite the ongoing investigation and ensure that justice is served swiftly and decisively. It further appreciated the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) for taking suo motu cognisance of the case and called upon all concerned authorities and citizens to work together to ensure that such acts of violence find no place in our society.

Western Angami Students’ Union

Expressing outrage, the Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) condemned the heinous murder while extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The Union urged the concerned authorities to ensure that justice is swiftly and firmly delivered.

Northern Angami Youth Organisation

Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) also expressed its deepest shock and grief over the brutal murder.  It strongly condemned the inhumane act and urged the law enforcing agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice under the harshest laws available.

NAYO further appealed to all sections of society, civil societies, and individuals to come together and condemn the crime, which is intolerable in our society. “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and pray that the Almighty brings comfort and solace to them during this dark hour,” stated NAYO.

Northern Angami Public Organization

In a press release, the Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO)  strongly condemned the inhumane and heinous act, and urged the law enforcing agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice under the harshest laws.

NAPO further extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and comfort.
