The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) under the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, has issued a public advisory warning of a potential Dengue transmission window from January 30 to February 12, 2026, following inputs from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Climate Research and Services, Pune.

According to the advisory, favourable climatic conditions during this period could significantly enhance mosquito breeding, thereby increasing the risk of Dengue transmission across major districts of the state. In view of this, NVBDCP has urged all districts, stakeholders and communities to remain vigilant and strengthen preventive and control measures.

Advising the public to take precautionary steps, the NVBDCP has called for the elimination of stagnant water in and around households, including flower pots, water containers, discarded tyres and other potential mosquito breeding sites. Citizens have also been urged to ensure proper covering of water storage containers.

To prevent mosquito bites, the advisory recommends the use of mosquito nets, repellents and window screens, along with wearing full-sleeved clothing, particularly during early morning and evening hours when mosquito activity is high.

The public has further been advised to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, or skin rash are experienced.

The NVBDCP has appealed to all citizens to extend full cooperation and actively participate in Dengue prevention efforts to protect individual and community health. For further information or assistance, the public has been advised to contact their nearest health facility.
