The Delhi Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU) hosted its 34th Annual Meet on October 26 at Nagaland House, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi, under the theme “Forging Paths from Shared Dreams, Empowering Change.” The event was co-sponsored by BLK Max Hospital, Fortis Vasant Kunj, and Medanta Hospital, whose partnership played a key role in making the celebration a success. The annual meet brought together students, professionals, and well-wishers from across Delhi NCR in a vibrant display of culture, unity, and shared aspiration.
Delivering his address as Chief Guest, Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland; Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India; and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), congratulated DENSU for its commitment to youth empowerment and community service.
“It is truly memorable and inspiring to witness this celebration of our rich cultural heritage,” he said.
“Hearing your stories and aspirations gives me great hope. The Eastern Naga youths are incredibly talented, creative, and full of potential. They are second to none when given the right opportunities. We must continue to move forward with unity and oneness, overcoming challenges through collective resolve. The people of Eastern Nagaland have made remarkable contributions to the journey of the Naga people and possess tremendous potential to contribute even more to the nation-building process.”
In his presidential address, Alun L Khiungru, President of DENSU, emphasized that while the Eastern Naga community may still be considered backward in certain aspects, each individual possesses immense potential and is second to none. He encouraged the youth to strive harder not only for personal growth but also to uplift and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Guest of Honour, Sharon Longchari, Joint Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi, praised DENSU for being an independent and self-driven organisation, commending its ability to grow and thrive without dependence on political or institutional backing.

She highlighted the union’s creative initiatives in fundraising and seeking sponsorships through various avenues and urged DENSU and other student bodies to continue as innovative organizations united in purpose and vision. She also lauded DENSU’s shift away from traditional political aid toward building genuine partnerships and sponsorships, calling it a model of self-reliance and creativity that others could emulate.
Among the host of dignitaries who attended the event were Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Government of Nagaland; Manpon Konyak, MLA, Government of Nagaland; Theja Meru, Chairman, TaFMA, Government of Nagaland; Obed Quinker, Chairman, Nagaland Honey Bee Mission, Government of Nagaland; Kuolie Mere, Deputy Director and Senior PRO, IPR, Government of Nagaland; G Vashum, former President of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF); Hawang Konyak, former President of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF); and Lhouvi Punyu, Working President, NPF Youth Wing.
Following the official addresses, a special segment titled “Legacy of Guidance: A Tribute” was dedicated to honoring DENSU’s long-standing mentors and advisors for their unwavering support and guidance over the years. As part of the celebration, Certificates of Honour were presented to three long-serving advisors and elders Loipong Konyak, Dr Hentok Phom and Lisapila Anar, in recognition of their decades of mentorship, compassion, and dedicated service to the Eastern Naga community in Delhi.
