Minister for Higher Education (HE) Temjen Imna Along on Sunday said that the department of HE is in pursuit to get the central share from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to disburse the second phase Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) ST.

Addressing a press conference at his residential office, the minister highlighted that the government understands the anxious state of the students in the second phase who are yet to receive their scholarship grant till now. He said the last correspondence from the ministry was on September 15 where they had asked for the statement of expenditure and for the requirement of 2024-2025 and the department has complied and already put it up with the ministry.

The minister expressed hope that the central share will be released to the state very soon and once it is released to the state, the HE department will ensure that it is immediately disbursed to the remaining students.

With regard to the scholarship nodal cell, minister Along mentioned that the government of the day under the Chief Secretary, Sentiyanger Imchen had expressed a few weeks ago with all the line departments to take care of the scholarship, including the post matric scholarship. He added that a nodal cell is to be formed under the HE department.

Informing that formalities and procedures are ongoing, the minister assured that the nodal cell would be established at the earliest. He also hoped that proper linkages will be done with the rest of the departments that give scholarship to the students of Nagaland.
