The Department of Social Welfare, Longleng launched a month long celebration of Poshan Maah 2024, IDS project today on the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam” at the CDPO office premises.

Speaking at the programme as the Special Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, NCS, encouraged the Anganwadi workers to work with transparency and accountability for the upliftment of the district.

He said that the simple use of the word ‘mother earth’ in itself speaks volumes, highlighting that mothers play a vital role in shaping and building society or a nation, upbringing of an individual to the path of prosperity or damnation. Phom also stressed that nutritional value of both the mother and child is very important. Education is best obtained when a child receives the best nutrition/food and performs to its best abilities, he added.

He also informed the gathering to disseminate information on protecting our mother earth which he said is not only about planting trees at a large scale but activities like hunting and fishing should be reduced and it requires the participation of the mass.

The DC also led the Poshan Pledge.

District Coordinator S. Longhong Phom highlighted a brief note on Poshan Abhiyaan and Poshan Maah.

Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Merenchenla and the programme was chaired by CDPO Longleng, Anuo Longho.
