In a bid to foster leadership skills in children, the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) organized an Advocacy and Strategy Development workshop under the Children’s Parliament Initiative. The event, held on August 14, 2024, at the D.C Conference hall, Kiphire aimed to enhance children’s participation in building leadership skills.
Regina Kithan, representative of DAN, delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of the Children’s Parliament in the district. Rentsamo Kikon, Senior S.D.E.O, Kiphire, emphasized the need for effective leadership in today’s fast-paced world, highlighting that children are capable of developing leadership skills from a young age. He stressed that nurturing these skills can have a profound impact on their lives and the communities they serve.

Thsaliba JE (power) encouraged children to take part in governance, emphasizing empowerment, critical skill development, representation of rights and needs, and promotion of democracy. He also reminded them that accepting failure is crucial to handling success. Thsaliba commended DAN for creating opportunities for children to develop and grow.
Following the first session, the District Children’s Parliament conducted its General Election and 1st General Session, marking a significant step towards shaping young leaders. By investing in children’s leadership development, DAN aims to empower young learners to become confident, compassionate, and capable individuals who can make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
