The Assam Rifles has stated that it rescued six persons from the captivity of NSCN-IM in Dimapur and in the process arrested five cadres belonging to the group.

According to the statement, the civilians were taken by the NSCN-IM between 13 to 27 April 2023 and ransom had been demanded from their families.

The Assam Rifles launched an operation around midnight on Thursday to rescue the abducted persons from a house in ‘Bamunpukhri House – apparently an illegal place for similar nefarious activities by NSCN IM.’

Five cadres were arrested in the operation namely SS Lt Khenito Assumi, SS 2nd Lt Neison, SS Lance Cpl Mughahuto, SS Sgt Chonpenthung Murry, and SS Sgt Katoho Yeptho.
