The Naga Council Dimapur has submitted a representation to the Nagaland Government on Saturday where it informed that the Dimapur based civil society organisations, tribal hohos, unions and associations held a Joint Consultative meeting today to deliberate the indefinite shutter down in the district called by the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.’
According to the representation, eight resolutions were passed by the house at the meeting including demand for the resolution of the Naga political issue which it says is the root cause of illegal collection of money. The Dimapur based CSOs also urged DCCI and the Nagaland Government to resolve the issue within two days.
The resolutions taken by the house are:
- The CSOs, Tribal Hohos, Unions and Associations in Dimapur expressed appreciation to the State Government for taking the issue seriously regarding the indefinite shutter-down called by DCCI.
- The House further acknowledges the Government of Nagaland for issuing specific instruction to follow the ceasefire ground rules to the dot. The House also appreciated the fact that all forms of extortion/collecting taxes activities shall be booked under NSA. The house also appreciated the DGP for the deployment of additional forces to check the illegal and rampant collection in Dimapur.
- The House strongly extended its support towards the ongoing indefinite shutter-down in Dimapur District. The NCD will participate in the negotiation process and decision thereof. The House re-affirmed the earlier resolution of NCD dated 10th October 2012 that no arbitrary imposition of lightning bandh/strikes will be allowed under its jurisdiction without its permission, in days to come.
- The House suggested that the DCCI and the State Government should settle the issue of indefinite shutter down within 2 days. In case of failure to do so the NCD along with the CSOs, Tribal Hohos, Unions and Associations will be compelled to take further stringent course of action in Dimapur District.
- 45 day notice is given to the Home Department and the District Administration to thoroughly verify and scrutinize all the existing unions/associations/welfare organizations et al.
- Given the gravity of the situation, no illegal taxation/extortion will be entertained to any Naga Political Groups (NPGs) as long as this present impasse is resolved between the CSOs, Government of Nagaland and the Government of India.
- The house resolved to re-iterate the NCD earlier memorandum to the Government of India to resolve the Naga Political imbroglio at the earliest as it is the root cause of illegal collection of money from the business communities and the public.
8. The House re-affirmed the empowering of Dimapur Public Grievances Committee under Vigilance Committee of NCD to address all the grievances of the public in Dimapur.
