Commemorating International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Dimapur district today, a rally cum marathon from DC Court Junction to City Tower was organized by the District Level Narcotics Coordination Committee Dimapur under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and District Level Committee for Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Chairperson, Sachin Jaiswal, IAS.
DC called for support to the drug users because there are lot of stigmas associated with them and society as a whole should support them and mainstream them back into the society where it should be our responsibility.
He opined that as a transit border where lots of illicit drugs are reported to be found, the occasion was important for the district.
“Especially the youngsters and the youth should be aware about this drugs and substance abuse and for this proposal, we are celebrating this day so that the message will be delivered about the ill effect of drugs,” he added.
More than 150 participated alongside ADC, EAC, DCP, ADCP, Social Welfare officials, 42 Assam Riffles Jawans, the Police Department, Prodigal Home (Rehab), NGOs, and Schools, and some Colleges like Cornerstone, Dimapur Higher Secondary School, St. Mary’s, Ram Janaki, participated in the program.
