Dimapur DTF on SUP meets; defaulters to be slapped with fines starting with Rs 10000

Dimapur: Citizens can lodge complaint on banned items on SUP Public Grievances App “SUP-CPCB” developed by CPCB

The Dimapur District Task Force on Single Use Plastic held a meeting on 8th August 2024 at the DCs Conference Hall Dimapur, DIPR informed. The meeting was chaired by ADC, Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe who emphasized the importance of enforcing the government-mandated ban on single-use plastics.

The District Task Force made the following decisions:

– To form a sub-committee and henceforth go for regular monitoring where defaulters would be penalised a sum of Rs 10,000 (first offence) and Rs 20,000 (second offence). A formal order detailing the complete ban on single-use plastics, including fines and penalties for non-compliance would be notified.

– To launch a widespread awareness campaign using IEC materials, print media, churches, and schools for informing the public about single-use plastics and their alternatives.

– To issue directives to churches, event organizers, and hotel/venue owners to prohibit single-use plastics on their premises to public as a means of reducing demand.

The Dimapur District Task Force also informed that SUP Public Grievances App “SUP-CPCB” has been developed by CPCB where any citizen can lodge a complaint if they see any banned items.
