The Dimapur Police has arrested two women – Sungty Tungoe and Chipeno Murry – for duping several with promises of loans by non-existentent societies.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur Police, informed in a press note that taking cognizance of the reports made in various social media and local news channels, the Police summoned the accused for enquiry where they admitted to have “given out loans to several individuals in lieu of certain security amount and executed Deed of Agreement on Government stamp papers in the name of four unregistered societies namely – Limuqho Society, Royal Society, Niquomi Society and Rural Society.”
On further enquiry, the Police ascertained that these four societies were non-existent and the duo had fraudulently executed the Deed of Agreement and several victims were yet to receive the loan amount after depositing the security amount.
Subsequently, a case was registered and the women were arrested for further investigation.
Accordingly, a case has been registered under the appropriate section of law and the two arrested individual are police custody.
The Dimapur Police has also appealed victim(s) of the scam to come forward and report at West Police Station, Dimapur.
