Dimapur Police makes 7 arrests in illegal confinement and assault case

Dimapur: 2 weapons allegedly used for threatening and assaulting victims seized

The Dimapur Police has arrested seven accused in the case of the illegal confinement and assault of three persons on the intervening night of December 16th and 17th 2024. In a press release, the Police informed that the three persons were allegedly confined and assaulted by some cadres of the Akato led NSCN (R) group along with some civilian friends.

The accused arrested by the police in connection to the case are: Khevito Yeptho (28 yrs); Itovi Yeptho (39 yrs); Atoka Sumi (37 yrs); Kakuho Achumi (26 yrs) – SS 2nd Lt. NSCN-R (Akato Group); Jonathan Ngade (45 yrs) – SS Lt. Col. NSCN –R (Akato Group); Lumtsaba Sangtam (30yrs) – SS Lt. NSCN- R (Akato Group); Holuvi Yeptho (34 yrs) – SS Lt. NSCN- R (Akato Group).

The Dimapur Police also said that two weapons were allegedly used for threatening and assaulting the three victims and were also seized from the arrested accused persons. The weapons include:

(i) 01 No. of AK-47 with one magazine Arsenal No.56-1 27033008

(ii) 01 No. .32 Pistol (Country Made) with one magazine inscribed as made in Switzerland No.7.65

A regular case under appropriate sections of law has been registered at Sub-Urban Police station, Dimapur on 17/12/2024 and the case is under intensive investigation.

Further, the Dimapur Police Commissionerate acknowledged all different organizations, particularly the Thahekhu Village Council, for assisting the Police in bringing to book all the accused persons at the earliest time possible.
