Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal, IAS has directed closure of schools in the district from 21 to 26 August 2023 in view of the rising cases of Conjunctivitis.
In the order, the DC informed that the decision was taken to suspend physical classes after deliberation with the District officials of the Department of Health & Family Welfare and Department of School Education.
“.. it has been reported that the cases of Conjunctivitis (Eye Flu) is rising in the District especially among the school going children,” it stated. Therefore, in order to contain the infection and the number of cases, schools in Dimapur will be suspended, it further informed.
“The schools are also requested to explore alternate options like online classes for the students during this period,” the order from Dimapur DC also said.

The department of Nagaland H&FW had earlier issued an advisory on Conjunctivitis, also know as Eye-Flu or Pink Eye in view of the “sudden outbreak: across the country. In the advisory, the department stated that prevention of the infection by practising good hygiene is necessary for avoiding the inconveniences caused by Conjunctivitis.
