Dimapur to host first Northeast Strongman Competition

Dimapur: The winner of the Strong Man Northeast Championship will qualify for the National Strong Man India competition

Strongman Northeast India will be hosting the first Strongest Man of Northeast India Competition under the aegis of Strong Man India (SMI) on 5 November at Orchid ground, Burma Camp, Dimapur.

Abeto K Achumi, an organiser and member of Strongman Northeast India, told Nagaland Tribune that they are expecting 50 participants from the NE States and more than 50 from Nagaland.

The Championship is open for both the genders and the winner will be adjudged the strongest man and woman in the Northeast, he added.

“We are expecting Mr. Sanjit Paul, president of Strong Man India (SMI) and two referees from SMI” Achumi said, adding that members of SMI, Ashish Jain and Arnab Ghosh will be judges and referees of the event.

The winner of the Strong Man Northeast Championship will qualify for the National Strong Man India competition.

Abeto Achumi also said that the main event will consist of Tyre flip (80 feet), Front hold (maximum time), Deadlift (maximum repetition) under 70-90kg and open categories for men and under 65kg and open categories for women.

Side events will include car pulling competition, Gym vs Gym tug-of-war and food eating competition.

Registrations are in progress but interested participants can register at the spot too, the organisers have informed. The registration fee for the main event is Rs 750 and side event is Rs 500.

Hotel Acacia, Forever Weddings, Royal Enfield (Uniglobe enterprise), City Gym and Dough Re Me Bakes, Kohima are the sponsors of the Strongest Man of the Northeast event.
