DIPR elevates public sector communication with skill upgrade training

A two-day skill up gradation training, organised by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Kohima, for the District Public Relations Officers (DPROs), Assistant Public Relations Officers (APROs), and Information Assistants (IAs) commenced at the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Kohima on May 23.

Director IPR, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, encouraged the officers and staff to know their foundation and reinvent themselves to meet the changing demands of the times, informed a DIPR report. She stressed that as government officials, they are responsible for being the spokespersons of the government, a role that should be kept in mind.

Additional Director, IPR Kevizayieno, in her opening remarks, acknowledged the need for improvement among the officers of the Department. She emphasized the importance of commitment, dedication, and maintaining good interpersonal relationships within the department.

News Editor and Regional news unit, Akashvani Kohima, Asonuo, IIS, spoke on ‘Media Relations and Work Ethics for public sector officers’ during the first session. She stressed on the ethical conducts which as a government official we should adhere to a certain set of principles. She also asked the trainees to keep the deadline of reports in mind and be committed to their job.

Deputy Director IPR Hongpi Konyak, encouraged the participants to have the identity of themselves and to highlight the achievements and policies of the government and to be the bridge between government and the public. He stressed on the need for team spirit from the senior officers to the ground level workers and added that as public relations officers, they need to push the image of the Department. He asked the officials present to focus on the accuracy of the reporting.

The training is aimed to upgrade the skills and knowledge of the participants, enabling them to better serve the public and effectively communicate the government’s initiatives and policies.

The training covered various aspects of public relations, communication strategies, and the evolving role of the DIPR in the digital age. The participants actively engaged in discussions and shared their experiences, contributing to a productive and enriching learning environment.

The successful completion of the training program, on the May 24, is expected to enhance the professionalism and performance of the DIPR officers from all districts, ultimately benefiting the public they serve.
