Directorate of Revenue Intelligence issues public notice ahead of bye-election 2026 in Nagaland

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Guwahati Zonal Unit, Ministry of Finance, has issued a public notice for the general public in view of the forthcoming Bye-Election 2026 to the 28–Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency in Nagaland.

According to a government statement, the DRI,  Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has informed the public that it is the nodal agency of CBIC for by-elections in Nagaland and is playing a crucial role in supporting the conduct of free and fair elections by preventing activities such as smuggling of contraband items and illicit trade that may influence or disrupt the electoral process.

During the period of Model Code of Conduct in force for the Bye-Election 2026 to the 28–Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency, Nagaland citizens has been requested to remain vigilant and report any information related to smuggling of goods, narcotics, gold, foreign currency, wildlife items, or any other contraband activities to DRI through the dedicated helpline. Persons providing specific and actionable information leading to successful detection/seizure shall be rewarded as per existing government policies. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

The public notice aims to promote public awareness amongst voters, encourage active citizen participation, and prevent malpractices that have the potential to undermine the integrity of the elections. It has sought the public’s cooperation in maintaining the integrity of its borders and ensuring free and fair elections.
