A District De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, was inaugurated at Thongsunyu village under Tseminyu district on July 19 with MLA & Chairman DPDB, Tseminyu, Ar Jwenga Seb as the special guest.
During the program, Seb emphasised that the new centre is not just about providing mere facilities, but it is a sanctuary for recovery, a place where broken lives will be restored and find the strength to begin a new life. He further said that substance abuse is not a personal issue, it is a social challenge that affects family, community and the future of our nation.
He emphasized that the centre represents the community’s commitment to protect the youth and to care for those who have lost their way. He spoke on the importance of reintegration, counselling, medical treatment, therapy and vocational training.

Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Japheth Woch (NCS) as the Guest of Honour, in his speech, reminded the people that the fight against drug abuse is not only the responsibility of the government or the centre, but it is a collective responsibility, parents must be vigilant, school must be proactive, churches and community organization must speak out and offer support, and above all we must talk openly about addiction not with shame but with courage.
He stated that the District Drug Addiction Centre is dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their lives from addiction and live with dignity and purpose.
The inaugural program was chaired by Gwahulo Kent, an introductory note was delivered by Project Coordinator, Timothy Thong, a presidential address was delivered by the project in-charge, Philip Seb and a short speech by Rengma Hoho, while words of gratitude were pronounced by Reuben Seb, Project Co-ordinator.
