District level essay and drawing competition held at Niuland

Commemorating 5 years of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a significant initiative aimed to promote awareness on drug abuse among youths in India an essay competition was conducted by the Social Welfare Department, Niuland in collaboration with the district administration and DHEW (District hub for empowerment of women) at DC’s conference Hall, Niuland on November 18.

Special guest, Vitoka Yepthomi, EAC Niuland addressing the gathering urged the students and youths to be the flag bearers in making our state free from drug abuse.

He stated that the Youths are the future of the country and so it’s vital for them to be actively aware of this growing problem. He also gave awareness on the type and kinds of drugs that are in circulation in Nagaland, and how to actively avoid places and situations which can lead them to drug addiction.

The essay competition was open to all students and Youths under Niuland district on the topic “Role of Youths in making Drug-Free India”. A total of 16 students participated in the competition.

Additionally a drawing competition was held at all Anganwadi centres under Niuland ICDS project on the theme “Say No to Drugs and Tobacco “.

At the end of this successful program all respective winners were awarded with meritorious certificates and cash prizes by the District Programme Officer.

The program was chaired by TY Peter Yanthan, District Program Officer, Niuland.
