A significant district level Padyatra was successfully held at the Town Hall, Mokokchung on November 25, underscoring the community’s commitment to national unity and integrity. The event was organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GOI and the Mokokchung District Administration to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the ‘’Iron Man of India.’’
The programme was chaired by EAC Neithozo Theunuo, who highlighted the various activities conducted as part of the Padyatra initiative. The proceedings were enhanced by special song presentations from local artists Imtilong and Imkumnaro.
The highlight of the event was the administration of the solemn “Unity Pledge” by Asst. Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajay Moktan, IAS, reinforcing the shared values of national integration among attendees.
Following the formal programme, Sr. SP, Vesupra Kezo officially flagged off the Padyatra. Participants embarked on a dedicated unity march that proceeded from the Town Hall to the BOC area in Sungkomen Ward.

The march saw enthusiastic participation from a wide cross-section of the community, including district officials, personnel from the Assam Rifles, youth representatives, and general citizens. Together they marched to honor the enduring legacy of Sardar Patel, whose monumental efforts were instrumental in the unification of independent India. The successful event underscored a strong collective commitment to national integration and community harmony.
