The Nagaland State Social Audit Agency, Social Audit Unit Nagaland held its district level social audit hearing on 12 September 2023 at the DMA Conference Hall, Tuensang.
T. Achila Quinker, DPC/PD MGNREGA highlighted the importance of Social Audit and urged the village functionaries to take Social Audit more seriously and to take corrective measures learned during the audit.
Vepo SRP, SAU Nagaland briefed the gathering on how Social Audit will bring transparency and accountability of the various centrally sponsored schemes implemented by various department. He mentioned that 12 villages have been audited for which district hearing is being conducted to resolve certain issues faced during the audit and advised the villages to make necessary corrections.
Meanwhile, Kasho Achumi, DRP, SAU resource person read the Social Audit findings village-wise and following the discussion resolutions were adopted.

Attending the meeting as Observer, Toking Yimkiung EAC Tuensang lauded the VDBs for working transparently and efficiently for the development of their villages after observing through the public hearing process. He said that “it is the VDB which knows and is aware of the need of the people living in village, therefore part IX of the Constitution granted the panchayat with this authority.”
Yimkiung also apprised the gathering that “it is tax payers’ money which comes in the form of various schemes” and therefore urged the village functionaries to judiciously and transparently utilize the scheme in helping the rural mass.
