Under the aegis of the District Sports Council Wokha, table tennis equipment was distributed to Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) Wokha on August 2, 2024, specifically for use by students with special needs. The distribution took place at DBHSS Wokha.
Libemo K Jami, District Youth Resource Officer Wokha, emphasised that this initiative, under the auspices of the District Sports Council Wokha, aims to reach out to children with special needs who lack access to sports.
He noted that some parents are reluctant to allow their children to participate in sports events, and some students with special needs are hesitant to play. Therefore, they decided to start with table tennis, a sport that does not require much physical exertion.

Jami explained that the equipment and logistics have been provided to DBHSS Wokha, which will host the initiative. The school will make the provided facilities accessible to all students in and around Wokha Town, especially those with special needs.
He further informed that they will commence with basic training and workshops before progressing to more advanced training. The progress of the participants will be monitored, with the aim of eventually preparing them to compete in the Paralympic Games.
