District Task Force Meeting for Immunization Held in Wokha

Wokha: SDO (C) Tsidi encouraged attendees to raise awareness about the advantages of vaccination within the community

A crucial District Task Force meeting was convened On August 4, 2023, at the Deputy Commissioner’s official chamber in Wokha to strategize the upcoming IMI 5.0 (Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0) immunization campaign, scheduled to launch on August 7, 2023.

Chaired by SDO (C) Tsidi, the meeting featured Dr. Thungchanbeni Patton, DP/DIO Wokha, who outlined a comprehensive micro plan and activities scheduled for the three-month-long IMI 5.0 program. The main objective of this special immunization session is to ensure essential immunization services reach children under five years of age and pregnant women who may have missed earlier vaccination doses. The overarching goal is to achieve 100% vaccination coverage for all target groups.

Dr. Patton disclosed that the campaign will span three rounds, starting in August and concluding in October 2023, covering all blocks within the Wokha district with a focus on designated sessions and villages. She called upon various stakeholders, including line departments, civil society organizations, churches, and village councils, to collaborate in mobilizing community members and achieving vaccination targets to protect children from preventable diseases.

Dr. Nyanthung Kikon, State Nodal Officer for IDPS, urged all concerned departments and stakeholders to provide full support for the effective execution of the program. Addressing past challenges stemming from misinformation and fake news regarding vaccination, Dr. Kikon stressed the importance of immunization in safeguarding children and pregnant women from preventable diseases. He called for responsible dissemination of accurate information about the benefits of vaccination.

SDO (C) Tsidi encouraged attendees to raise awareness about the advantages of vaccination within the community and urged support for the successful implementation of the program to ensure no targeted group is left without proper vaccination.
