Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Mokokchung, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mokokchung, organised cleanliness drives across Mokokchung Town, including market areas and Dr. Imkongliba Memorial Civil Hospital, on the morning of October 30, 2024. This initiative was part of “Diwali with MyBharat,” a nationwide program initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

The “Diwali with MyBharat” program aims to instil a sense of cleanliness among Indian citizens and commemorate the first anniversary of the MyBharat portal. This portal, an initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, is designed to empower Indian youth through social mobility, educational equity, and practical skill development. It serves as an online platform for youth leadership and social engagement, offering young people opportunities to advance their careers, develop positive personalities, and contribute to community participation in activities of national importance, thereby supporting the nation’s growth.

The event was graced by Rongsentoshi Jamir, President of Rotary Club, Mokokchung; I Temsu Jamir, former President of the Rotary Club; and S.T. Haokip, District Youth Officer (DYO), NYK Mokokchung. Addressing the youth participants, S.T. Haokip highlighted the significance of “Diwali with MyBharat,” explaining its focus on youth empowerment through experiential learning and volunteer opportunities. He emphasised how such initiatives align with the goal of achieving a “Vikshit Bharat” by 2047 and expressed his appreciation to the Rotary Club and the participants for their active involvement.

In his remarks, Rongsentoshi Jamir expressed gratitude to NYK for leading the cleanliness campaign. He urged the youth to embrace the concept of “swachhata” (cleanliness) in their lives and play an active role in achieving a cleaner Mokokchung in every way possible.

I Temsu Jamir also addressed the gathering, sharing insights into the history and accomplishments of the Rotary Club. He encouraged the youth to be agents of positive change in society and to actively engage in community development initiatives.
