The Delhi Lotha Baptist Church (DLBC), in collaboration with the Lotha Students’ Union Delhi (LSUD), organized their annual sports meet on the theme “Togetherness,” drawn from the timeless words of Psalm 133:1: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” at Rugby Stadium I Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

The objectives of the sports meet were as ambitious as they were heartfelt: foster enduring relationships, strengthen community bonds, raise awareness about fitness, showcase hidden talents, and cultivate a profound sense of inclusivity and belonging. The air buzzed with anticipation as hundreds gathered under the clear Delhi skies. What began as an initiative by the Lotha Naga community blossomed into a grand mosaic of inclusivity.

Six dynamic teams stepped onto the field: DLBC, LSUD, North Delhi Team, Kishangarh Team, X1 Brothers Team, and Noah Team, converged on the field, each team represented a mixed of college, university students, police personnel and young professionals. Men, women, and children alike dove into a spectrum of games: exhilarating football matches, high-flying volleyball rallies, fast-paced basketball duels, sprinting 100-meter races, pulse-quickening relay races, challenging obstacle courses, and delightful activities tailored for the little ones.

Mhayani N Jami extended a gracious welcome address, her words setting a tone of openness and excitement. This was followed by an opening prayer led by Zubenthung Ngullie, Secretary of DLBC, invoking divine favour for unity and safety. The spiritual highlight arrived with a brief yet profound sermon by Pastor Mhabemo Kithan, DLBC’s pastor. Drawing deeply from the theme “Togetherness”; he painted a vivid portrait of life in a megacity like Delhi, a whirlwind of uncertainties, cultural clashes, and personal challenges that can isolate even the strongest souls.

He further stated that living under such circumstances, togetherness is not an optional for us but it’s our anchor amid the storm. With a pastoral blessing, he officially declared the sports meet open, unleashing a wave of cheers that echoed across the stadium.

DLBC won men’s and women’s football with sharp attacks and solid defence that no one could break. North Delhi Team took men’s volleyball with big spikes and strong blocks. Noah Team ruled women’s volleyball with quick moves and great teamwork. North Delhi also grabbed men’s basketball with fast shots and speedy plays that wowed the crowd. The races and relays showed personal speed and team spirit. Obstacle courses tested real strength, while kids’games brought pure joy.

The closing ceremony brought a fitting crescendo, chaired by C Rendemo Tsanglao, President of LSUD. Championship prizes were bestowed with pride by distinguished guests: Echungbemo Humtsoe, Senior Manager at the TATA Power & Government of Delhi and Chumben Ngullie, Deputy Commandant, each handshake symbolizing recognition of effort over mere trophies. The event concluded with a benediction from Pastor Mhabemo Kithan, sealing the day in gratitude and grace.
