DLCC meetings held at Zunheboto, Phek and Mon

The 3rd Quarterly District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) Meeting was held on November 27 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Hall, Zunheboto under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Dharam Raj (IAS).

During the meeting, 11 institutions, 3 villages, and 1 Health and Wellness Centre were declared Tobacco-Free.

The Chairman urged the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC) to work on issuing Tobacco Vendor Licences and to geo-tag all vendors. Participation of DLCC in public events was also encouraged. He further suggested that schools may engage volunteers to paint anti-tobacco messages or cartoons at school entrances or within the school premises. Additionally, the Chairman stated that the success or saturation achieved in schools under NTPC should be properly recorded.

The following establishments were declared Tobacco-Free: St. Thomas School, VK Town; GPS Vishepu; GPS Asukhomi; GPS VK; GHS Xamunuboto Kivikhu; GHS Xuviu; GHS Asuloto Asukhomi; GHS VK; Nagaland University, Lumami; Kheloshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA); Phoenix Taekwondo Academy; Rotomi Village; Khrimtomi Village; Akuhaito Town; Health and Wellness Centre: Rotomi Village Health and Wellness Centre.

Phek:

District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) for Tobacco Control Program, Phek held its quarterly review meeting at DC’s Conference Hall, Phek on 27th November 2025. The meeting was chaired by DC Phek, Rhosietho Nguori.

The meeting discussed and deliberated on implementation of the guidelines issued by the Tobacco Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI), Government of India to create a healthy and Tobacco-free environment in Schools and Colleges by preventing use and sale of tobacco products.

Rentsamo Kikon, District Education Officer, Phek, Dr. Pfukrolo District Nodal officer for Tobacco Control cell and other Committee Members also spoke concerning the control of tobacco in schools and colleges at the meeting.

Mon:

District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) convened a meeting on November 28, at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall Mon. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak.

Deputy Commissioner welcomeD all the members present at the meeting. He also congratulated all the 6 villages 26 Schools and the 2 Institutions for declaring Tobacco Free, and handed over the Tobacco Free Certificate to them. The DC called upon to be the brand ambassador in spreading the awareness in the districts.

Dr. Esther Chophy Ngullie, District Nodal Officer, NTCP Mon highlighted that the Mon district has broken the record in Nagaland by declaring 6 Villages as Tobacco  Free villages. She thanked the village Council Chairmen for their cooperation in achieving it. She further informed that Mon district has been declared as the best Tobacco Free Campaign in the State.

During the meeting short speeches were delivered by B.N Wanmei, Head GB of Changlangshu Village, P. Yanyam Village Council Chairman Chi Village and Yahreih, Village Council Chairman of Chi Guhching.
