Concerned for the collapsed boundary wall of the Dimapur Government College, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) had condemned the inaction of concerned authorities and demanded immediate reconstruction of the campus boundary wall.
In a press release, the DNSU mentioned that the wall collapsed within 4-5 months after its construction in 2022 and pointed out the failure of the concerned department despite repeated appeal “compromising the security and well-being of students.”.
“The DNSU views this incident as a stark reflection of the government’s apathy towards education and student welfare”, the Union stated.
It added that collapsed wall poses significant threat to students undermines the college’s ability to conduct programs and events securely, as outsiders can easily enter, noting the 10th October 2024 incident of physical assault and extortion on campus.
The DNSU also appealed to the State Government to immediately reconstruct the campus boundary wall and address broader security concerns, ensuring a safe environment for students.
“…. we will be forced to consider democratic protest along with the students,” the DNSU added.
