The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the district administration and relevant authorities, demanding swift and conclusive action against Nirmal Jain, who the Union has identified as a “habitual offender” allegedly involved in multiple criminal activities including fuel adulteration, benami transactions, and the fraudulent acquisition of indigenous certificates and properties.

The DNSU has given a 15-day ultimatum for tangible outcomes of the investigation.

In a strongly worded statement, the DNSU expressed deep dissatisfaction over the “prolonged inaction and the lack of transparent findings” regarding the investigation into Nirmal Jain’s extensive criminal involvement, which the Union claims have been going for years.

The Union said it had previously submitted a detailed presentation demanding a serious probe into his illicit activities, particularly his continuous evasion of justice despite a well-known history of criminal offenses.

“Despite being a habitual offender, Nirmal Jain consistently manages to evade accountability, which casts a serious doubt on the integrity of our administrative and governing systems,” the Union said adding, it is high time the administrators present their fact findings to the public.

The DNSU further alleged that Jain’s continued involvement in fraudulent activities, including the acquisition of indigenous certificates and properties through illicit means, poses a direct threat to the land and identity of the indigenous people of Nagaland.

The Union demanded an immediate cancellation of his fraudulently acquired indigenous certificates and properties.

The Union warned that any delay to the investigation in the pretext of “fact-finding” or to “cool down” the issue would only aggravate public sentiment and the concerned authorities must be prepared for a potential public uproar.

“The public is keenly awaiting justice for the indigenous people of Nagaland. Failure to deliver justice will mark one of the darkest chapters in the history of Dimapur,” it cautioned, stating that it would not tolerate any repeat of the past wherein Jain reportedly absconded from Dimapur only to return when matters “cooled down” before returning.

“No matter what manipulative tactics he employs, the DNSU will ensure he does not get scot-free. Justice must be served to the people,” it asserted.

The DNSU urged the citizens of Nagaland not to engage in any land transactions involving Nirmal Jain, warning any individual found doing so would bear full responsibility for the consequences.

It also warned that no politician, political party, NGO, government official, Naga political organization or civil organization should support Nirmal Jain’s criminal activities.

Stating that the ball is now squarely in the hands of the administration, the Union said if any government official, Naga political organization, CSO, or individual is found assisting Nirmal Jain, they would face “the wrath of the public”.

It reaffirmed its commitment to “stand and fight for the truth,” and warned that it would be compelled to take its own course of action to ensure justice if the administrative action within the stipulated 15-day period does not deliver justifiable punishment to Nirmal Jain.

It also appealed to all sections of the people to be ready to stand for their inalienable rights.
