The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed serious concern over the continued inaction of the Government of Nagaland in connection with the Nirmal Jain case.
“It has been nearly six months since the DNSU took up the matter, submitting all relevant evidence and documentation to the competent authorities. However, the government’s lack of response reflects a concerning degree of indifference,” the Union stated.
It may be noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur had submitted the district’s findings to the Commissioner of Nagaland over a month ago. Despite this, the DNSU has yet to receive any official response or communication from the government regarding further action.
The Union reminded the Government of Nagaland that the Naga public is eagerly awaiting the outcome of this case, and that the government’s decision would be closely observed and judged by the people. The outcome would not only serve as an eye-opener but also send a strong and clear message against individuals or entities who exploit the Naga people through illegal and fraudulent means.

The DNSU also cautioned that any individuals or groups found engaging in transactions, or in the buying and selling of land, or in any dealings related to Nirmal Jain would face strong resistance from the Union and the public. Furthermore, any government agencies, officials, groups, civil society organizations (CSOs), or individuals found taking undue advantage of this issue for personal gain would be strictly dealt with, it added.

The DNSU reiterated its firm commitment to defend and uphold the rights of the Naga people and reminded that continued inaction on the part of the government would compel the DNSU to initiate democratic forms of protest and agitation.
