The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project initiatives of Boeing India and Doctors For You (DFY) for the health sector in Nagaland was launched today by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at his residence in Kohima.
Speaking at the launch event, the chief minister said health infrastructure at the time of statehood in 1963 was abysmal but today the number of health facilities has increased to 771 with various categories – DH:11, SMH: 1, TB & CDH: 2, CHC: 35, PHC: 42, SHC: 1, BD: 2, SC: 577.
Rio said the inauguration of the CSR project is another milestone and a visionary collaboration that will improve the quality of healthcare with respect to maternal and child healthcare services through the Model Labour Room Project.
He declared that six Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Care (PHC) would be taken up initially for piloting under the CSR initiatives. The six centres are: CHC Pungro in Kiphire, PHC Angpang in Mon, CHC Tamlu in Longleng, CHC Tuli in Mokokchung, CHC Aghunato in Zunheboto and PHC Botsa in Kohima.
“Today, symbolically, equipment and other logistics of Model Labour Room to PHC Botsa is handed over,” Rio said and added, “Healthcare is a cornerstone of our governmental policy for Nagaland with a focus on Maternal and child health education and access to primary medical services to all.”
Boeing India and Doctors For You donated ambulance, Digital X-Ray and Ultrasound machines to the six CHC and PHC.
DFY initiated the project in 26 States and more than 300 districts contributing to public health infrastructure development, disaster management, risk reduction and hospital infrastructure development and capacity building.
Through the partnership, DFY will be assisting the government to bring quality, low cost or free basic health care services to the people of the state.
On the occasion, Boeing India and DFY handed over to PHC Botsa the following – Model Labour Room in six CHC and PHC as pilot projects, 137 equipment and other logistics of Model Labour Room, ambulance, Digital X-ray and ultrasound machine.

An umbrella MOU with Doctors For You with the aim to expand the public health system strengthening work in the state was also signed in the presence of the chief minister.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary of Health & Welfare Department. The keynote address was given by Rajat Jain, president of Doctors For You (DFY) while the vote of thanks was delivered by Reny Wilfred, IAS, Joint Secretary of Investment Development Authority of Nagaland.
