Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar today said that the double engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the centre and state will continue to be the catalyst of Nagaland’s growth and prosperity.

The minister is on a two-day visit to Nagaland to be present at the filing of nomination papers by two BJP candidates for the Nagaland Vidhan Sabha elections.

“The BJP-NDPP alliance will work for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of peace, development and economic growth for Nagaland and be the catalyst for the youth of the state,” said Rajeev Chandrasekhar while addressing the party karyakartas and leaders at Mokokchung.

He expressed confidence that BJP will get a thumping victory in the upcoming assembly elections.

Also travelling to Nagaland in the run up to the elections are Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, BJP national spokesperson Nalin S Kohli and BJP leader Priyang Pandey.

On reaching Mokokchung from Dimapur, Rajeev Chandrasekhar received a warm welcome by Imkong L Imchen, MLA and former Nagaland minister along with Pintu M Ghosh, state spokesperson, members of Mahila Morcha and Karyakartas.

Later, he accompanied Imkong L Imchen in filing his nomination papers from Koridang constituency. He then met BJP Nagaland Karyakartas and leaders for lunch at Imkong L Imchen’s residence.

The minister was also present at the filing of nomination papers by Nagaland Minister of Higher and Technical Education and state BJP president, Temjen Imna Along from Alongtaki constituency.

“I am here to support him and I am sure that he will win comfortably,” the Minister said.

In his interaction with the leaders and party karyakartas, Chandrasekhar spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’.

“Nagaland like much of the Northeast was ignored for long by the previous central governments led by the Congress. This was simply because the development of this region and its people was never on their agenda. In the past nine years, our PM has worked relentlessly to bring opportunity prosperity and development to every Indian. The same has happened in Nagaland and the whole of Northeast,” said the minister.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Nagaland for the third time in one year

For Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, this marks the third time he has visited Nagaland in the past one year. On his previous visits, he had inaugurated the National Institute of Electronics and Information and Technology (NIELIT) centre in Dimapur, held meetings with local community members, district officials, social workers, business community representatives and students and reviewed the developmental works in the state including Kiphire, his aspirational district.

Upon his visit to Zunheboto, he also became the first union minister in the last 40 years to visit the town.

The minister has also stated in his previous visits that no part of Nagaland will be left without internet connectivity as part of PM Narendra Modi’s vision of connecting all Indians, with an approach that ‘No one is left behind’.

Tomorrow, the minister will be present at the nomination filing of Bashangmongba Chang at Tuensang and return to Delhi the same evening.
