The office of the District Programme Officer (ICDS), Mokokchung, has drawn public attention to a recent surge in scam activities targeting beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMVY) in Mokokchung district.

In a press release issued by ICDS on February 11, the office stated that scammers, claiming to be representatives of the government or financial institutions, are approaching PMMVY beneficiaries and requesting sensitive personal information, including Aadhaar details and bank account information.

Beneficiaries are reportedly being misled into sharing confidential information or clicking on suspicious links under the guise of “updating” their accounts or “releasing” benefits.
The press release noted that these scammers often possess accurate personal details of beneficiaries, making it difficult for individuals to immediately identify such communications as fraudulent.

All PMMVY beneficiaries, along with the public, have been urged to exercise caution and strictly avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown individuals or through unverified links. The office further advised beneficiaries to verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from government agencies or financial institutions by checking through official channels.

The public has also been cautioned to remain wary of unsolicited calls or messages that claim to be from government officials or banks. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the authorities immediately.

The press release added that the district administration and concerned authorities are working to prevent such incidents and protect the interests of beneficiaries. However, it emphasised that public awareness and vigilance are crucial in preventing such scams.
