Kohima: It will be a friendly contest between three of us, says PDA candidate

The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate Dr Chumben Murry on Tuesday filed his nomination for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland.

Speaking to a section of media persons after filing his nomination, Dr Murry expressed his confident of winning the seat with a thumping majority.

“With the support of 60 MLAs why should I not be confident, there is absolute majority,” said Dr Murry.

Highlighting some of his vision if elected, Dr Chumben Murry said he will be carrying the voice of the people and the legislators and particularly dwell on the Indo-Naga Political issue and other issues being faced by the people of the state.

When asked about his two opponents, Dr Murry said, “It will be a friendly contest between the three of us.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton replying to a query on Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization resolution to abstain from both state and Central elections, he expressed optimism of coming to a mutual understanding. “As per information from our Eastern Nagaland Legislature’s Union they are going to have a sitting on 28 March only after that we will come to know the outcome of the meeting. Let us wait for the 28 March meeting we are hoping that we will come to an understanding,” said Patton.

PDA candidate Dr Chumben Murry during his nomination filing was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, NCP President Vanthungo Odyuo, Advisor Hekhani Jakhalu Kense, Advisor Tongpang Ozukum, MLA YM Humtsoe and a host of party workers from BJP and NDPP.
