Assam lit up Chümoukedima with one of the most dazzling performances of the ongoing Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2), overpowering Chandigarh 8–0 on Tuesday.

From the first whistle, there was a spark on the Assam side – a sense of rhythm, confidence, and purpose. Their passes were cleaner, their movement sharper, and their hunger unmistakable.

Chandigarh, though brave in spirit, could not match the speed and precision of an Assam team firing on all cylinders.

The match burst into life early. Assam didn’t wait to settle; they went straight for the throat as just 8 minutes into the match, Divia (Jersey No. 10) slipped past her marker and finished with calm assurance. Only two minutes later, Sayasree (11) made it 2–0, beating the keeper with a confident strike that showed just how quickly Assam were switching gears. What followed was football played with freedom and joy: Mary (7) struck in the 24th minute, reading the play brilliantly to tap in Assam’s third. Lokhi (12) added a fourth in the 35th, punishing a Chandigarh defence that was already looking overwhelmed.

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Mary (7) scored her second goal in 45+3 minutes giving Assam a comfortable 5–0 lead at halftime. They returned from the break with the same hunger, the same energy, the same enthusiasm to push forward. At 57 minutes, Sayasree (11) scored her second of the evening, finding the net after a sweeping move that cut through Chandigarh’s defence. Then in the 80th minute, Divia (10) added her second, finishing a move full of teamwork and imagination. And finally, in the 84th minute Mary completed her hat-trick.

This win places Assam in a strong position as the group phase progresses. Their goal difference receives a massive boost and with players like Mary, Divia, and Sayasree in form, Assam looks like a team ready to challenge anyone.
