Dr. T Ao National Junior Girls’ Championship: Maharashtra, Mizoram register wins

As the group stage of the ongoing Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2) progressed, Maharashtra and Mizoram secured wins in their respective matches played against Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium.

Playing the seventh match of the tournament, Maharashtra secured a 2–0 win over Madhya Pradesh, delivering a dominant possession, control, and attacking clarity.

From the opening whistle, Maharashtra asserted their authority, recording 71% possession and dictating the tempo throughout the match. Their early pressure paid off quickly when Ipshita broke the deadlock in the 4th minute, giving her side a confident start.

Maharashtra continued to press aggressively, and their efforts were rewarded again

in the 13th minute, when Sharvari doubled the lead with a well-placed strike.

Madhya Pradesh, limited to just 29% possession, struggled to break out of their defensive half. Despite their resilience, they managed only one shot on target, highlighting Maharashtra’s disciplined defensive setup.

Despite their best attempts to counter, Madhya Pradesh found it difficult to disrupt Maharashtra’s rhythm, ending the game without a goal, a corner, or any significant attacking momentum.

In the eighth match of the championship, Mizoram registered a comprehensive 8-0 victory over Himachal Pradesh.

Mizoram controlled possession with 86%, dictated the tempo from start to finish, and unleashed relentless pressure with 32 shots on target. Himachal Pradesh struggled to match the pace and intensity, managing just one attempt on target and retaining only 14% of ball possession.

Mizoram’s attacking unit flourished with multiple goal scorers contributing, but the standout

performer of the match was Loisy who produced a brilliant hat-trick, earning recognition for her clinical finishing and overall impact. Her teammates Mawipuii and April scored a brace each while Nunpuii scored one to take Mizoram’s total goals to eight.

Himachal Pradesh, despite moments of resilience, failed to create meaningful threats and ended the match with 0 goals, 0 corners, and 1 offside.

With the strong performance, Mizoram continues to build momentum in the championship, solidifying their reputation as one of the most well-coordinated teams in the tournament.
